Training Packages are sets of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications for recognising and assessing workforce skills. Training Packages are developed with industry and are managed by Industry Skills Councils (ISCs). Only Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are able to issue Training Package qualifications or statements of attainment. Qualifications delivered and assessed in one state or territory are recognised across Australia.
Training Packages are developed through a process that involves widespread national consultation with industry stakeholders including peak bodies and other industry stakeholders. They are reviewed and improved on a regular basis.
Structure
Training Packages are made up of mandatory components endorsed by the National Quality Council (NQC).
The endorsed components of Training Packages are developed according to a set of rules set down by the Commonwealth Government and include; competency standards, assessment guidelines and qualifications frameworks.
The endorsed components are complemented and supported by support resources that provide RTO's with choice in the design of training and assessment to meet the needs of enterprises and learners.
