Overview
The Public Safety sector of Government Skills Australia covers a range of services, employers, occupations and careers in the major agencies responsible for the protection, security and safety of all Australians.
The Public Safety industry requires a highly skilled workforce able to work in very specialised operations, within hazardous environments by highly trained operational personnel using advanced technology, risk management, committed teamwork and high awareness of personal risk and protection.
The Public Safety Training Package (PSTP) reflects the wide range of skills and qualifications applied to work in public safety. The latest version of the PSTP is Version 7, which was endorsed on 12 March 2009.

Government Skills Australia is pleased to announce that PUA00 Public Safety Training Package Version 7 is now available for purchase through our e-Shop.
22 May 2009 - Review of Search & Rescue and Operations / Incident Management Industry Wide Units
As part of the PUA00 Public Safety Training Package Review, Government Skills Australia (GSA) is currently undertaking further review work on common or industry wide units, in particular the Search and Rescue (SAR) and Operations (OPE) units. Read More.
26 March 2009 - Feedback Register Update
Government Skills Australia have finalised updating the Feedback Register to include all Version 7 Qualifications, Units of Competency and Skill Sets. All Units of Competency (excluding 'Not For Public Access' Units) have been updated, as well as all qualifications (excluding 'Not For Public Access' qualifications).
12 March 2009 - Public Safety Training Package Version 7 has been endorsed.
