Welcome to the GSA Online Discussion Forums!

forumThe GSA Online Discussion Forums have been designed for you – as a VET practitioner or stakeholder in the Government and Community Safety industries – to share ideas, provide feedback on Products and services, support one another and build partnerships.

The Government and Community Safety sectors are diverse in many ways - in structure, regulation, organizational composition, recognized skills and culture. GSA is committed to developing and implementing strategies that will reduce the separation that makes it difficult for our stakeholders to build professional relationships. Our aim is to encourage and support partnership building in our sectors through these Online Discussion Forums.

How does it work?

Think of the Online Discussion Forum as an ongoing electronic conversation with colleagues. The Forum section is made up of a number of categories – General, Sectors and National Industry Career Specialists (NICS).

  • The General Forum is just that – topics for discussion of a general nature that don’t necessarily correspond to a specific industry sector.
  • The Sector Forums facilitate discussions within the five sectors that make up the industry – Water, Local Government, Public Safety, Correctional Services and the Public Sector.
  • The National Industry Career Specialists (NICS) Forum facilitates discussion on the NICS project for Government and Community Safety.

Every User has the ability to visit all available Forums in all categories. The aim, however, is to establish virtual “communities of practice” where there can be a free flowing exchange of specialized knowledge among members. As the communities get established, GSA will respond to requests to establish Forums limited to designated members to provide a more specialised approach to discussions and issues raised. computers

Anybody can contribute to any topics within the forums once they have registered on the website. Please note, posts will be recognisable by Username, though GSA recommends Users add an electronic signature to posts. You can do this by changing your profile under 'my profile' at the top of the forum page.

Although the forums are administered by GSA, each forum will be moderated by volunteer industry “champions” whose role is to generate, stimulate and facilitate the discussions. (If you want to be a moderator and learn about what’s involved, send an e-mail to info@governmentskills.com.au)
