National Industry Career Specialists Network

Young people need quality career information from industry experts and qualified development practitioners.

The Australian Government has established two new industry career advice Networks as part of the Career Advice Australia (CAA) initiative: a Network of National Industry Career Specialists (NICS) and a Network of Regional Industry Career Advisors (RICAs).

The Network

The national Network of 10 National Industry Career Specialists provide Industry Sector specific, high quality career information, particularly on skills needs and labour markets.  NICS support the national Network of 57 RICAs across Australia.

How can the NICS help you?

NICS work with stakeholders to:

  • Raise awareness for the RICA Network, industry, employers and businesses of emerging industry skills needs, training pathways, occupational and career opportunities specific to their Industry Sector.
  • Increase national industry and employer groups’ engagement in supporting young peoples’ career and transitions development.
  • Establish strong and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders including the RICA network, other NICS, Industry Skills Councils, industry bodies, Group Training Australia, State/Territory Training Authorities and national parent organisations/associations.

Summary

NICS work with RICAs to assist Local Community Partnerships to ensure that, through schools, young people aged 13 – 19 years have greater access to current Industry Sector career information.  careergov_tile
