The most recent WIAC meeting was held in October of last year in Hobart, Tasmania. With the water training package (NWP07) only recently endorsed, there was much discussion surrounding the future uptake of the package and the Learning Resources that would support it. The agenda covered the following items:
- Certificate II in Remote Essential Services review and concern for the accredited qualifications relating to hydrology units.
- Review of Collection and Distribution units
- ANZCO codes- call for action in revising job roles in the water industry
In addition, our guest speaker Len Bester from WSSA (Water Services Association)reported on the work of his reference group in identifying the appropriate packaging for the Certificate IV in Trade Waste. Development of relevant training and examination of opportunities for skills development and certification was also discussed.
Overall, the outcomes from this meeting proved both positive and constructive. Our next WIAC meeting is scheduled for April on the Gold Coast.
