Government Skills Australia is contracted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to provide services for industry to play an active role in the design and delivery of Training Packages and national qualifications.
Government Skills Australia is responsible for ensuring the quality and currency of national industry standards and for developing learning resources which promote the delivery of national qualifications.
Government Skills Australia is committed to the following objectives:
- Continuous improvement of its Training Packages including the reduction of unnecessary duplication, the inclusion of Employability Skills and the development of cross industry standards
- Strong engagement with small, medium and large enterprises and state/territory advisory bodies
- Formal consultative mechanisms with training providers and equity groups, including through GSA membership, the website and sponsored forums
- Effective support mechanisms for RTOs delivering and customising Training Packages
Government Skills Australia provides the following services to achieve these objectives:
- Up-to-date exchange of information on its projects and consultation processes through the website, newsletters, focused seminars and specialist forums
- Relevant support resources to assist in the implementation of Training Package and to promote vocational learning and workforce development
- Sponsored research on issues relevant to vocational training and workforce development
- Individual advice through emails and direct contact on matters realated to its Training Packages and resources
- Specialised consultancies for enterprise tailored projects and advice.
