Board membership

The Public Sector has two positions on the Board of GSA:

  • An employer representative, currently held by Jan Andrews from South Australia, and current Chair of the Board.
  • An employee representative, currently held by David Carey, the nominee of the Community and Public Sector Union.

Industry Advisory Committee

The membership of the Public Sector Industry Advisory Committee consists of the Commissioners of Public Employment (or the equivalent) in the Commonwealth and States and Territories.  The commissioners have established a Jurisdictional Reference Group which comprises representatives from the Commonwealth, States and Territories and also has union rerepresentation.

Jurisdictional Reference Group

The jurisdictional representatives are nominated by the members of the IAC to form a committee of Commonwealth, State and Territory representatives responsible for the implementation of training and career development in their respective government employment. They provide industry intelligence to GSA on training and development needs and skills shortages and skills gaps from their respective jurisdictions.

Project Steering Committees

The Industry Advisory Committee nominates membership from people with specialist expertise in the area addressed by the projects.

There are currently Project Steering Committees on Trading Standards, HR and Workplace Relations and Radiation Protection and Safety.

Project Working Groups

These are usually industry organised and sponsored groups who provide drafts and guidance to the Steering Committees or direct to the Industry Advisory Officer. There are currently Project Working Groups on Trade Measurement, Workplace Relations, Procurement, Project Management and Radiation Protection and Safety. One is being formed for Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs.  The Court Services review is being coordinated through ACCE.
