Overview

launceston1The Water Training Package (NWP07) was endorsed in October 2007. This Training Package evolved from the previous industry Training Package (NWP01) and addresses the issue of workers requiring a broad spread of units of competency by including a greater number of elective units at each qualification level giving greater flexibility with a move away from specialisations.

The qualifications in the Water Training Package have been structured to meet the needs of all water industry employees, including those whose work involves a number of different streams, which may cover source, distribution, collection and/or treatment. Learners and employers will be able to structure individual career paths in a specialised stream or allow a more general approach.

The water industry includes the major sectors of:

  • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Source management
  • Collection and distribution
  • Support and generic functions
