Historic changes to higher education as Bill passes

Historic changes to higher education in Australia have passed through the Parliament, which will mean that by 2012 universities will be funded for every eligible student they teach, rather than through a system of rationed places.

National VET Sector Sustainability Policy and Action Plan (2009-2012)

lgvetThe Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education (MCVTE)* has endorsed and released the National VET (Vocational Education and Training) Sector Sustainability Policy and Action Plan (2009-2012).

Developed by the National VET Sector Sustainability Action Group on behalf of the MCVTE, the plan links with the national agenda for climate change mitigation and adaptation polices which are expected to increase the demand by industry for skills for sustainability.

GSA Website Issues

Government Skills Australia has discovered that the GSA Website Certificate has expired, which is resulting in some problems for users who may have been accessing 'secure' or 'restricted' parts of our website late last week.  Our inhouse technology team are currently working with our IT support organisations to resolve the problems.

The following website solution has been made available by our team:
 
1.  You should close you current browser, open a new session, then log in from the website homepage.
2.  After logging in, you should be able to access the appropriate secure or restricted areas.
3.  Depending on your browser and settings, you may receive a pop-up asking what you want to do about blocked content.  If this occurs, you need to select 'accept blocked content' or something similar.
 
The website remains secure and is not at risk of any security violation or hacking.

 
New Local Government Training Package available now!

lga04LGA04v2 is the latest version of the Local Government Training Package maintained by Government Skills Australia (GSA). Following extensive national consultation and collaboration with Local Government and inline with an industry approved continuous improvement plan, LGA04v2 was endorsed in January 2009.

The Training Package contains Competency Standards, Qualifications, Assessment Guidelines and Skill Sets.

UPDATED: New support material available

lga04New support material available for the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management is now available from the GSA Eshop.  Sample versions of the support materials can be downloaded by clicking the Read more link below and selecting the download sample links that follow.

The new suite of workplace skills and assessment resources are designed to support the twelve units of competency that comprise LGA70108 Vocational Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management. These are the first resources to be developed for the local government sector in the higher qualifications stream and for LGA04 Local Government Training Package version 2 that was endorsed in January 2009.
